UHV baseball, softball season tickets now on sale
Fans are now able to purchase 2024 season tickets and passes to UHV baseball and softball, just in time for the holidays.
Tickets are available on the UHV Jaguars website here through a partnership with Hometown Ticketing.
With the partnership, UHV Athletics will move to cashless ticketing. Fans will be able to purchase their tickets and present either their digital ticket on their phone or a printed copy to be scanned at games. For baseball games, it will allow season ticket holders to purchase the seats they want in the lower bowl at Riverside Stadium. For softball, all tickets are general admission.
Season tickets for baseball and softball are $50 each which includes admission to all doubleheaders. Single game tickets for both sports will be $7 and go on sale in January.
UHV students and faculty get free admission to all home games with their UHV ID.
"We're very excited to kick off the spring season," said UHV Athletic Director Ashley Walyuchow. "Our baseball and softball teams have put in tremendous work to prepare for their seasons, and should each compete for their respective conference titles.
"Our partnership with Hometown Ticketing will only enhance the experience for our fans."
Baseball is scheduled play a total of 28 home games over 17 dates from January to April. The Jaguars will look to defend their 2023 Red River Athletic Conference Tournament title when they open the season with a 1 p.m. doubleheader against Wayland Baptist on Jan. 26 at Riverside Stadium.
The Jaguars advanced to the Hattiesburg Opening Round Semifinal of the NAIA Tournament last year. The six wins in the postseason tied the program record.
UHV returns 22 players from last year's historic playoff run, including each of its All-Conference selections in Hal Perez (1st team), Hayden Leopold (2nd team), Kaden Fikac (2nd team) and Raul Lopez (Gold Glove). In addition to the returners, the Jaguars' junior college recruiting class was ranked 19th in the country by NAIA Ball and The JUCO Baseball Blog.
"Our team is ready to play," said head baseball coach Jonathan Stavinoha. "There's a lot of excitement in the locker room. We hope Victoria and the Crossroads region will match that energy at all of our home games."
Softball is scheduled to host 16 home games across eight dates between February and April. The Jaguars' push for a seventh conference championship will begin on Feb. 9-10 at the LSU Alexandria-Louisiana Christian Tournament. UHV opens its home schedule with a 1 p.m. doubleheader against St. Thomas (TX) on Feb. 16 at the Victoria Youth Sports Complex.
Last year, the Jaguars reached the RRAC Softball Semifinals for the sixth consecutive season. Over the last five full seasons, excluding 2020, the softball team has won 144 games, three RRAC tournaments and reached the NAIA World Series in 2021. The team returns 14 from last year's team including All-Conference selections Cameron Cowan (1st team), Kenzie Chambers (1st team), Claire Blinka (1st team) and Madysin Leighton (2nd team).
"We feel really confident heading into this season," said head softball coach Lindsey Ortiz. "Our fans help create a winning environment for us, and we hope to consistently pack the stands this season."
