PRAIRIE VIEW – The Texas A&M University-Victoria baseball team nearly put another miraculous rally together.
Instead, the No. 20-ranked Jaguars fell, 11-6, to NCAA Division I foe Prairie View A&M at Tankersley Field on Tuesday.
The loss snaps a three-game winning streak for A&M-Victoria (9-6).
Roberto Olguin led the way, going 3-for-5 with an RBI. The Robstown native has now hit safely in each of the last four games, boasting a .600 average with three RBIs over that time.
Connor Kaiser had his third consecutive multi-hit game by going 2-for-5.
Trevor Berger had a team-high two RBIs.
Justin Mireles suffered the loss on the pitcher's mound after going four innings in his second start this season.
Sparking the rally
The Jaguars trailed 8-2 in the eighth inning before Josiah Taylor drew a bases-loaded walk to spark a four-run frame to pull within two runs.
Berger and Antonio Benitez also provided RBIs in the inning. Olguin scored on a wild pitch.
But the Panthers (3-0) responded in the bottom of the inning with a three-run home run to keep A&M-Victoria at bay.
