Zeplin’s 10 K performance earns second RRAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week nod
WACO – Texas A&M University-Victoria baseball's Blane Zeplin has been comfortable since returning to his hometown.
That was evident Friday night in Game 2 of the Jaguars' Red River Athletic Conference series with Louisiana Christian as the Victoria West product tied his season-high with 10 strikeouts over five innings to help A&M-Victoria to an 11-1 run-rule win and, eventually, a series win over the Wildcats.
That performance earned Zeplin his second RRAC Pitcher of the Week honors, as announced on Monday. It's the third time the Jaguars have earned the Pitcher of the Week award and second consecutive after Jacob Baker won the honor last week.
Zeplin has been one of the best pitchers in the conference since joining the team this season. He's tied for second in the RRAC in wins with four and is fifth in strikeouts with 34.
His win in Game 2 helped A&M-Victoria notch its first-ever series win over Louisiana Christian.
The Jaguars are back in action with a 6 p.m. non-conference game against Our Lady of the Lake on Tuesday at Riverside Stadium.
