Three UHV golfers named Daktronics NAIA Scholar Athletes
The NAIA recently announced its Daktronics Scholar Athletes for golf.
Two UHV women's golfers and one from the men's team were named to their respective teams.
Mia Lerma and Evelyn Ngyuen were two of roughly 350 athletes honored on the women's side.
Lerma is a graduate student pursuing a degree in accounting and boasted a 3.7 GPA. Ngyuen, a sophomore, holds a 3.86 GPA and is studying supply chain management.
Will Paton, a senior, was UHV's lone honoree on the men's side out of more than 375 student-athletes from 130 schools.
The Portsmouth, England, native earned his bachelor's degree in finance with a 4.0 GPA.
"All three have shown the dedication in takes to be a great student-athlete," said head coach Garrett Adair. "They put in just as much time in the classroom as they did on the course, and they deserve this recognition."
In order to be nominated, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at said institution.
