Men’s golf sets program record with 3 NAIA All-American selections
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Entering the 2023-24 season, the UHV men's golf team had just two previous NAIA All-Americans – Carson Caylor in 2023 and Max Schliesing in 2022, both as third team selections.
On Thursday, the NAIA announced its three All-American teams and the Jaguars set a new record for single-season All-American selections with three honorees.
Joshua Van der Wath, Enzo Dakiche and Nathan Biais were each third team All-American selections after helping the Jaguars to a fifth-place finish in the NAIA Men's Golf Championship at Dalton Golf and Country Club in Dalton, Georgia, last week.
"I couldn't be more excited for Josh, Enzo and Nathan," said head coach Garrett Adair. "These three are very detailed with their preparation and execution, and the honor is very much deserved. I'm very grateful for how they've elevated the program. I'm excited for the future of UHV golf."
Van Der Wath, a sophomore, led the way for the Jaguars in the NAIA Tournament, finishing T-8 with performances of 71-75-73-75—294 in the Peach State. His Top 10 finish is a program-best at the NAIA Tournament, demolishing Jaxon Langford's previous record of T-19 at the 2022 tournament.
This year, the Johannesburg, South Africa, native boasted two wins at the Prairie View A&M-Texas Southern Tri-Match and UHV Fall Classic, and four Top 10 finishes this season. He closed the year as the No. 34-ranked golfer in the NAIA with a 73.2 adjusted scoring average by Scoreboard powered by Clippd, which keeps all statistics for collegiate golf.
Biais, a freshman, led the way to the Jaguars' fourth straight conference championship by shooting a record 69-67-70—206 (-10) at the Red River Athletic Conference Tournament at Victoria Country Club April 29-May 1. His tournament score of 10-under set a new program record score to par in a conference tournament.
The Chassors, France, native ranks 41st nationally according to Scoreboard with a 73.1 adjusted scoring average this season. He had three Top 10 finishes this year.
Dakiche, also a sophomore, boasted the team's best adjusted scoring average at 72.4 thanks to a win at the Claud Jacobs Invitational and a team-leading seven Top 10 finishes.
In 30 rounds this season, the Paris, France, native had a team-leading eight rounds under par.
