Adair returns as A&M-Victoria head golf coach
The winningest golf coach at Texas A&M University-Victoria is making his return.
On Monday, A&M-Victoria Athletics announced Garrett Adair is returning as the head men's and women's golf coach for the Jaguars. His first day is Monday, June 1.
"I'm super grateful that God blessed me with the opportunity to come back and lead the Jaguars' men's and women's golf programs," Adair said. "I love the direction the programs are going and I look forward to coaching these men and women to great heights on and off the course.
"Being away for a year showed me how much I missed coaching and how much desire there was to help these athletes achieve their goals. I look forward to this new chapter and can't wait to get started!"
Adair spent seven years on the staff at A&M-Victoria, starting in 2017 as an assistant before being promoted to head coach in March of 2020.
From then, Adair turned the Jaguars into a powerhouse, winning the women's conference title in 2021 and four consecutive men's conference championships from 2021-2024. He was a two-time Red River Athletic Conference Coach of the Year, as well.
Under his guidance, the Jaguars posted two Top 5 finishes at the NAIA Men's Golf National Championships – a fourth-place finish in 2022 and a fifth-place finish in 2024. In 2024, Adair also coached the program's best-ever individual finish at the national tournament, which was a T-8 finish by Joshua Van der Wath.
Adair coached five NAIA All-Americans during his first stint with the program with Max Schliesing (2022), Carson Caylor (2023), Van der Wath, Nathan Biais and Enzo Dakiche (2024) earning some of the highest honors in collegiate golf.
"Garrett has already demonstrated the impact he can make at Texas A&M University–Victoria," said interim Director of Athletics Lindsey Ortiz. "During his previous tenure, the golf program captured consecutive conference championships, produced multiple All-Americans, and achieved the highest national finish in Jaguar Athletics.
"Beyond the competitive success, he is an exceptional recruiter, a tireless worker, and someone who genuinely invests in the growth and development of his student-athletes. We are excited to welcome him back to Jaguar Athletics and look forward to the continued success and culture he will bring to our department."
Prior to coming to Victoria, Adair served as a volunteer assistant coach for the University of Idaho men's golf team. He played collegiately at Western Texas College and North Idaho College before concluding his collegiate career at the University of Great Falls (now known as University of Providence-Great Falls).
The Moscow, Idaho, native graduated from UGF in 2016 with a Bachelor's degree in Health and Human Performance. He spent the past year as the Assistant Golf Pro at The Club at Colony Creek in Victoria.
