The UHV men's soccer team will look to bounce back when it travels to Texas A&M-Texarkana on Saturday.
The Jaguars (3-1-1, 1-1-0) are coming off a 2-1 loss at LSU Shreveport on Thursday.
Yahir Pena scored the lone goal for UHV on Thursday in Shreveport. It's the second consecutive game with a goal for the freshman forward. He scored a program-record four goals in a 7-0 win over Texas College on Sept. 14.
Pena's five goals this season is tied for the conference lead with TAMUT's Jaret Rojas.
The Jaguars' four goals per game average leads the conference. UHV has seen nine different players score through the first five games. Pena, Mateo Canales, Einar Rolfsen, Diby Kouassi and Jose Martinez have notched multiple goals this season.
The Jaguars have been able to rely on a solid defense this season with a 0.89 goals against average. Sophomore goalkeeper Tyler Kaeppeli was forced into a season-high six saves on Thursday and boasts a conference leading three shutouts.
Saturday will be the eighth meeting in the all-time series with the Jaguars and TAMUT. UHV holds a 7-0 edge in the series after a 1-0 win in Victoria last season.
The Eagles (4-4-0, 2-1-0) are coming off a 3-0 win over Huston-Tillotson on Thursday.
UHV is 8-1-2 in games after losses since 2018.
