The UHV men's soccer team suffered a rare home loss on Thursday.
The Jaguars fell 1-0 to LSU Alexandria at The Cage Thursday to fall to 8-2-1 overall and 6-2-0 in Red River Athletic Conference play.
Sophomore goalkeeper Tyler Kaeppeli did all he could to keep UHV in the game, making five saves. Over the last five matches, Kaeppeli has made 17 of his 26 saves this season.
The Jaguars had nine second-half shots including four in the match's final 20 minutes.
Jose Luis Sanchez had a great look in the 70th minute, but his shot struck the crossbar. Matt Sturgeon followed that in the 73rd minute, but LSUA (5-5-1, 4-2-1) goalkeeper Valeriu Tarlev saved his shot.
Sanchez led the offensive push for UHV with three total shots. Carlos Quinones, Klaidas Pudlauskas and Mateo Canales each had two.
Thursday was the Jaguars' first loss at home this season and first loss at home in 13 matches. The loss snapped a five-game winning streak.
Thursday's result also put the Jaguars one game behind first-place Louisiana Christian and Xavier (La.) in the conference standings.
UHV will look to bounce back Saturday at 3:30 when it hosts LCU for Family Weekend.
