UHV softball out of NAIA poll
For the first time since 2008 the University of Houston-Victoria softball team has not been rated in the regular-season NAIA Softball Coaches' Top 25 poll.
The last time the Jaguars did not receive at least a receiving-votes mention in the poll was during the third regular-season poll of 2008. During that stretch the Jaguars have been ranked in the top 25 on 71 occasions, while receiving votes on 12 other weekly polls.
The highest ranking the Jaguars have every received was a No. 8 ranking during the first regular season poll in 2012. The Jaguars have been ranked in the top 10 on 13 different occasions since 2008.
Defending national champion Oklahoma City continues its hold on the No. 1 ranking receiving all 19 first-place votes and 529 points in this week's poll. Columbia (Mo.) moves from No. 3 to No. 2 with 492 points, while Brenau (Ga.) jumps from No. 8 to No. 3 with 479 points.
Marian (Ind.) and Georgia Gwinnett remain at No. 4 and No. 5 respectively to round out the top five.
LSU-Alexandria is the only Red River Athletic Conference ranked in this week's poll at No. 13.
The Jaguars are second behind LSUA in the conference poll, with the University of the Southwest in third and Our Lady of the Lake in fourth. They are followed by Langston, Huston-Tillotson, Jarvis Christian and Texas College.
The current conference softball standings are: LSUA (15-1), UHV (15-5), Our Lady of the Lake (9-9), Southwest (8-8), Langston (6-6), Huston-Tillotson (7-9), Jarvis Christian (2-14), Texas College (0-10).
