Steen Named RRAC Pitcher Of The Week
WACO, Texas – Cameron Steen (SO/Victoria, TX) of the University of Houston-Victoria (Texas) captured the RRAC Pitcher of the Week for March 7-13, while Kayla Dreese of Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas) earned selection as the RRAC Softball Player of the Week for March 7-13. This is the fifth set of weekly honors for the 2022 softball season.
Steen allowed only five hits over six innings to earn a win over University of the Southwest (N.M.). The sophomore right-hander from Victoria, Texas, struck out three and walked two while allowing one earned run in a 10-2 victory. Steen is ninth in the RRAC with a 3.09 ERA. The Jaguars remained unbeaten at 4-0 in the RRAC with a mark of 11-4 on the season.
Dreese scored six runs and drove in three in a 3-1 week for the Saints. The senior leftfielder from San Antonio reached base on 11-of-13 plate appearances while going 9-for-11 hitting. Dreese also stole seven bases and had multiple hits in each game. She was 5-for-5 in OLLU's double-header sweep of Huston-Tillotson University and she scored four runs in a split with Texas A&M University-San Antonio. Dreese is third in the RRAC with a .500 average on the season. The Saints are now 3-3 in conference play and 15-7 overall.
