AUSTIN – The bats continued to stay hot for UHV baseball on Saturday.
The Jaguars plated 14 runs in a doubleheader with Huston-Tillotson to sweep the Rams 6-1 and 8-1 at Mabson Field in the final series of the regular season. The wins extended UHV's winning streak to eight games.
Claire Blinka had the loudest day, going 3-for-7 with three RBIs and a pair of home runs, including a leadoff blast in Game 2. The senior from Port Lavaca has now homered in each of the last four games and is on a seven-game hitting streak.
But it wasn't just Blinka delivering at the plate for the Jaguars (27-19, 19-9).
Senior Jayce Bolin delivered her first home run of the season with a solo shot in the fourth inning of Game 2. The Krum native went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs.
Junior outfielder Fayth Hoover was 3-for-6 with four RBIs and a pair of doubles in the twinbill.
In Game 1, Audrie Sayas earned her 11th win of the season after hurling a two-hit gem over five innings, striking out five while walking just one of the 18 batters she faced. She and Alexi Wade limited the Rams (7-27, 5-23) to six hits in Game 1.
Hope Quinones picked up her 10th win of the season with three innings in relief behind Jocelyne Galvan. Quinones allowed just two hits with two strikeouts and only one walk.
Galvan, Quinones and Aracely Guzman combined to allow just five hits in Game 2.
Now the Jaguars enter next week's Red River Athletic Conference tournament in Pineville, Louisiana, as the four seed and will face Texas A&M-San Antonio at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 1.
