PINEVILLE, La. – UHV softball was able to stave off elimination once, but not twice.
The Jaguars saw their run at the Red River Athletic Conference Tournament end after beating Louisiana Christian, 3-2, in an elimination game before falling to Texas A&M-San Antonio, 2-0, in the second elimination game of the day.
UHV (29-21) plated its three runs in the sixth inning against the Wildcats thanks to RBIs from Daizie Fuentez and Fayth Hoover. Alyssa Carter also scored on an error in the inning.
Hoover led the way for the Jaguars in Game 1, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. She was the lone UHV player with a multi-hit game against the Wildcats.
Hope Quinones earned her 11th win of the season against LCU. The San Antonio native went 6.2 innings strong, allowing just the two runs on seven hits and a walk.
She made way for Audrie Sayas to come in and earn the save with 0.1 inning.
The timely hits just didn't come for UHV in their second elimination game vs. TAMUSA.
UHV stranded four runners, three of which were in scoring position, Saturday night.
Meanwhile, TAMUSA got its breakthrough in the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly before doubling the lead in the top of the seventh on an RBI single.
Jocelyne Galvan suffered the loss in the circle despite a valiant effort through seven innings, allowing two runs on five hits with four strikeouts.
