OKLAHOMA CITY – The University of Houston-Victoria softball team saw its season come to an end on Tuesday.
The Jaguars fell to William Carey University (MS), 7-1, in an elimination game at the Oklahoma City Bracket of the 2025 NAIA Softball National Championship Opening Round at Oklahoma City University's Ann Lacy Stadium.
UHV ends the season with a 29-23 record after making the program's 10th trip to the NAIA Tournament.
Junior Daizie Fuentez had two of UHV's four hits against the Lady Crusaders (35-18), including an RBI single off the wall in the top of the first to plate Claire Blinka.
Kenzie Chambers and Deeandra Maldonado had the other two hits for the Jaguars.
After Fuentez's RBI to open the scoring, William Carey scored seven unanswered runs to end the Jaguars' season.
Jocelyne Galvan took the loss in the circle for UHV after allowing three runs – two of them earned – on six hits and two walks with a pair of strikeouts. Seniors Hope Quinones and Alexi Wade each came on in relief behind Galvan.
This marks the end of the UHV careers for Blinka, Chambers, Quinones, Wade, Jordan Jones, Jayce Bolin, Celeste Lara, Allison Snedeker and VeJeigh Zamora.
