A&M-Victoria softball completes sweep of Xavier (La.) on Senior Day
The Texas A&M University-Victoria softball team continued its momentum at home Saturday afternoon.
The Jaguars used another late offensive surge and a steady parade of quality at‑bats to pull away from Xavier (La.) for a 12–7 win to complete the three-game sweep on Senior Day at the Victoria Youth Sports Complex. A&M-Victoria is now 9-1 at home this season.
A&M-Victoria (17-10, 8-4) again showcased the same traits that fueled yesterday's doubleheader sweep: patience in key moments, depth throughout the order and timely production from veteran hitters.
The Jaguars tallied 14 hits, with multiple players delivering multi‑hit, multi‑RBI efforts.
Cristela Trevino extended her scorching stretch at the plate with three hits, while Deeandra Maldonado and Daizie Fuentez repeatedly ignited big innings with smart baserunning and disciplined at‑bats. Angelina Morales drove in a run and reached base twice, and the Jaguars' supporting cast—players like Kelsey Perez, Kitty Coe and Fayth Hoover—continued to provide needed lift as the game tightened.
Haley Noska and Madelyn Butler combined in the circle, with Butler earning the win in relief to move to 2–2.

A&M–Victoria added another run in the third when Morales punched a single through the right side to score Carter, stretching the lead to 4–1.
Xavier briefly swung momentum in the fifth with a four‑run outburst, tying the game at 4-4 on an RBI triple and a two‑run homer, but the Jaguars immediately answered.
Trevino opened the bottom half with a single, Coe followed with another, and Hoover moved both over with a sacrifice bunt. Fuentez later drew a bases‑loaded walk to score the go‑ahead run, and Carr added another sacrifice fly for a 6–4 advantage.
After Xavier tied the game again in the sixth, A&M–Victoria broke it open for good with a commanding six‑run frame.
Perez and Morales provided immediate pressure with back‑to‑back singles before Trevino drilled a two‑run double into left. Coe followed with a single, and Hoover added an RBI single up the middle. Fuentez punctuated the inning moments later with a two‑run single to left, and Sianna Miller capped the scoring with a sacrifice fly for a 12–6 lead.
Xavier added one more run on a late homer, but Butler handled the seventh to close out the victory.
