A&M-Victoria softball unable to overcome fourth inning in series finale with A&M-Texarkana
A three-run fourth inning proved decisive as the Texas A&M University-Victoria softball team dropped a 3–0 decision to Texas A&M-Texarkana on Friday afternoon at the Victoria Youth Sports Complex.
The Jaguars were limited to four hits and left runners aboard in five innings, unable to generate offense against a steady opposing pitching performance despite several late scoring chances.
A&M‑Victoria fell to 21–12 overall and 12–6 in Red River Athletic Conference play.
Key Moments
The game remained scoreless until the top of the fourth inning, when Texas A&M Texarkana struck for three runs. The first run scored on a double to left field that was followed by a throwing error, allowing the runner to advance and score.
An RBI single later in the inning pushed the lead to 2-0, and the third run crossed the plate on a wild pitch, capping the decisive rally.
A&M‑Victoria threatened in the sixth inning after a leadoff bunt single and a sacrifice moved a runner into scoring position, but the Jaguars were unable to convert. Another baserunner reached in the seventh, though the comeback attempt again stalled.
