A&M-Victoria softball picks up series win at Louisiana Christian
PINEVILLE, La. — The Texas A&M University-Victoria softball team built an early cushion and made it stand behind steady pitching to secure a 3‑2 win over Louisiana Christian on Saturday at Wildcat Park.
The Jaguars (24‑15, 15‑9 RRAC) scored all three of their runs in the second inning and leaned on a strong outing from Haley Noska, followed by late relief from Kailea Freeman, to hold off a late push from the Wildcats. A&M‑Victoria finished with nine hits while limiting Louisiana Christian to two runs despite eight hits.
Noska earned the win in the circle, and Freeman closed the door to pick up the save.
Key Moments
A&M‑Victoria struck quickly in the second inning, capitalizing on defensive miscues and timely hitting. Fayth Hoover and Sianna Miller reached base to open the inning before Alyssa Carter singled through the right side, plating two runs after an outfield error allowed both runners to score.
Moments later, Madison Carr doubled to left field to drive in Carter and give the Jaguars a 3‑0 advantage they would not relinquish.
Louisiana Christian responded in the third, trimming the deficit to 3‑1. The Wildcats inched closer again in the sixth to cut the lead to one.
With the tying run in scoring position later in the inning, A&M‑Victoria turned to Freeman out of the bullpen. The right‑hander worked out of the jam and then retired Louisiana Christian in order in the seventh to preserve the victory.
