Women’s golf closes season at conference tournament

SAN ANTONIO – Kaitlin Lopez turned in a career-best performance as the UHV women's golf team concluded the Continental Athletic Conference tournament on Tuesday at the Golf Club of Texas.

The freshman carded a 7-over 79 at the Lee Trevino-designed track to move up to 17th (89-79—168). Her 10-stroke improvement was the second-most in the field.

Lopez had birdies on the par 5 eighth and par 4 10^th holes.

Mia Lerma closed the tournament with a 10^th-place finish after a final round 82.

Evelyn Nguyen improved eight strokes to finish 18th (89-81—170). The sophomore from Pearland had 12 pars on her card in the final round.

Cecelia Niemietz finished 20^th after a 10-stroke improvement on the final day (92-82—172).

Caitlyn Niemietz closed the tournament in 21^st after rounds of 82 and 89.

UHV finished fourth in the tournament.

The Jaguars return their entire roster for the 2023-24 season.
