UHV's Lupton earns RRAC offensive honor
After turning in back-to-back hat trick performances, University of Houston-Victoria senior forward Emily Lupton (SR/Preston, England) was been named the Red River Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week on Monday for the week of Oct. 9-15.
Lupton tied a couple of UHV records with her performance that included six goals and an assist in conference wins over Texas College and Jarvis Christian.
The wins helped the Jaguars improve to 4-5 on the season and 3-3 in conference play.
Lupton tied the UHV women's single-game mark for most points with seven against Jarvis Christian, her two three-goal performances tied her for the most goals in a single-game (three), while she also set the mark for most shots on goal in a single game (seven) and most shots in a single game (11), both against Texas College.
On the week, Lupton fired off 16 shots with 11 on goal and six finding the mark. She also had the game-winning goal in both games.
For the year, Lupton has a team-high eight goals to go along with two assists in seven games. She has put up 24 shots, including 15 on goal, while collecting three game-winning goals.
LSU-Alexandria's Cecilie Mortensen was named the RRAC Defensive Player of the Week.
Both players are now eligible for the NAIA National Player of the Week.
