Second half costly for UHV women's soccer
Giving up two second-half goals Saturday, the University of Houston-Victoria Jaguars women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to the Jarvis Christian Bulldogs in a Red River Athletic conference match at The Cage.
The loss drops the Jaguars to 1-2 on the season and 1-2 in conference play, while the Bulldogs improve to 1-3 overall and 1-1 in conference.
The Jaguars outshot the Bulldogs on the day with a 16-4 shooting edge, but the Bulldogs managed to convert two of their three shots on goal to pull out the win.
Kiki Hinojosa (JR/La Porte, TX) gave the Jaguars a 1-0 lead with a goal off a scramble inside the box in the 31st minute.
The Bulldogs would answer back in the second half with goals in the 58th minute and the 72nd minute.
Estelle Flanagan (FR/McKinney, TX) paced the Jaguars with four shots, while Nisa Ollivierre (SR/Baytown, TX) had three. Hinojosa, Lauren Ramon (JR/Rowlett, TX) and Consuelo Luna (SR/Sanger, CA) each had two shots.
The Jaguars return to action Tuesday with a 10 a.m. match against the Oklahoma City Stars in Oklahoma City.
