The UHV women's soccer team hopes to bounce back Wednesday when it hosts Schreiner at 1:30 p.m. in its final non-conference game of the season.
The Jaguars (3-1-3, 1-1-0) are coming off a 3-1 loss to Red River Athletic Conference preseason favorite Texas A&M-Texarkana on Saturday, the first of the season for UHV.
"We're ready to get back on the field," said head coach Adrian Rigby. "Our team is excited to get to play at home again. This will be another good opportunity to get ready for the remainder of our conference schedule."
Andrea Aborqui became the ninth different Jaguar to score this season with her second-half goal against the Eagles. It was the Cal State East Bay transfer's first collegiate goal, as well.
UHV's 20.7 shots per game leads the RRAC while its 124 shots this season ranks second in the conference. Freshman Kaydee Cox leads the Jaguars with 13 shots while Kaitlyn Kongdara (12), Estelle Flanagan (11) and Clara Strand (11) have all posted double figures in shots through the first seven matches.
Junior goalkeeper Hayli Nichols made a season-high five saves on Saturday as well as posted her second shutout of the season against LSU Shreveport on Thursday.
Wednesday will be the sixth meeting all-time between the Jaguars and Mountaineers and first since 2015 when the teams battled to a 1-1 draw in Kerrville. UHV holds a 3-1-1 edge all-time against the NCAA Division III program.
Schreiner enters Wednesday with an 0-6 record following a loss to LeTourneau University on Sept. 22.
