HAWKINS, Texas – The Texas A&M University-Victoria women's soccer team had no trouble finding the back of the net Thursday.
The Jaguars saw five different players combine to score six goals in a 6-2 rout of Jarvis Christian on Thursday at Wendon L. Blair Soccer Field. It's the third time this season A&M-Victoria has scored five goals or more.
After conceding in the 18th minute, A&M-Victoria (5-2-2, 2-1-0) responded with four unanswered goals.
Arantza Alva scored the equalizer in the 26th minute after combining with Ayloni Garcia. It was the second goal of the year for the Pharr native and third assist of the year for Garcia.
Senior Rosa Reyes followed that in the 33rd minute by scoring directly from a corner kick for her first goal of the year. Kaitlyn McCarty capped the first half scoring in the 39th minute to put the Jaguars up 3-1 at the break with Reyes providing the assist.
Six minutes after halftime, Vanessa Bevalian knocked home her third goal of the year on an assist from Serenity Petaia to make it 4-1.
The Bulldogs (0-7-1, 0-3-0) made it 4-2 in the 66th minute before Ayloni Garcia added her seventh and eighth goals of the year in the 75th and 82nd minutes. Briana Ortega provided the assist in the 75th minute.
The Jaguars out-shot Jarvis 14-7 on Thursday with eight of those 14 goals going on frame.
Abree Fry earned the win in goal, her second of the year.
A&M-Victoria next travels to Texas A&M-Texarkana on Saturday for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
