The Texas A&M University-Victoria men's soccer team saw its four-match winning streak come to an end on Saturday.
The Jaguars fell, 4-1, to the University of St. Thomas (TX) at The Cage after conceding all four goals in the first half.
Following a first half which saw A&M-Victoria (4-3) manage just two shots on goal in six attempts, the Jaguars put as much pressure on the Celts as possible with 10 shots and five shots on goal in the second half.
The Jaguars out-shot St. Thomas 16-9, including 10-3 in the second half.
Jervan Matthew netted his team-leading fourth goal of the year in the 63rd minute on a cross from Baillie O'Reilly. It was the fifth assist of the season for O'Reilly.
O'Reilly, a senior from Burbage, England, let the way with a team-leading five shots with three on goal. Matthew (3), Yahir Pena and Daniel Menyoli also had multi-shot performances on Saturday.
Now A&M-Victoria turns its attention to Red River Athletic Conference play as the Jaguars travel to conference rival and No. 14-ranked LSU Shreveport next Thursday. That kicks off a two-week road trip for the Jaguars at LSUS, Louisiana Christian, Jarvis Christian and Texas A&M-Texarkana.
