HAWKINS, Texas – A last-second goal was the difference between a win and a draw for the Texas A&M University-Victoria men's soccer team on Thursday.
Despite leading for 78 minutes, the Jaguars settled for a 1-1 draw at Red River Athletic Conference foe Jarvis Christian after the Bulldogs scored the equalizer with 16 seconds left.
Mosiah Bonney opened the scoring in the 22nd minute to give the Jaguars a 1-0 lead at halftime. His fellow Dominiquais Jervan Matthew provided the assist. It was the first goal of the season for Bonney and third assist for Matthew.
The Jaguars (5-4-1, 1-1-1) out-shot Jarvis (0-7-1, 0-2-1) 9-2 and put five of those nine shots on frame.
Bonney and Daniel Menyoli were the two A&M-Victoria players with multi-shot performances. Menyoli led the team with three while Bonney posted two.
A&M-Victoria next travels to Texas A&M-Texarkana on Saturday for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff.
