Leighton named Defensive Player of the Year, 8 Jags honored in All-Conference
WACO – The (RV) UHV softball team has been one of the best in the Red River Athletic Conference all season.
On Friday, the conference confirmed that with eight Jaguars receiving All-Conference honors.
Madysin Leighton highlighted the group by taking home Defensive Player of the Year and first team accolades.
Joining Leighton on the first team were Kenzie Chambers, Cameron Cowan, Claire Blinka and Kaylle Lopez. Blinka, Chambers and Cowan are repeat first team honorees.
Junior first baseman Allison Snedeker took home All-RRAC second team honors while senior outfielder Alana Ortega was named honorable mention.
Sophomore Sianna Miller was UHV's representative on the Champions of Character team.
The Jaguars (30-10) open play in the RRAC Tournament as the No. 3 seed at 12 p.m. on Saturday against Texas A&M-San Antonio at the Champions Sportsplex in Alexandria, Louisiana.
