Pate inside Top 10 to pace Women’s Golf after Round 1 at the Claud Jacobs

Sophomore Madeline Pate is inside the Top 10 entering the final round of the Claud Jacobs Collegiate Invitational presented by Edward Jones-French Wealth Management and Discover Victoria.

The Cibolo native carded an opening round 82 at Victoria Country Club on Monday to sit in eighth place.  She is seeking her fifth career Top 10 finish.

She carded two birdies and eight pars and only had two holes worse than bogey in the opening round on the Par 72 course. She is tied for fourth in Par 3 scoring at 3.25 and tied for third in Par 4 scoring (4.40). Pate is just two shots outside the Top 5.

Kaitlin Lopez is 17^th after shooting 92 on Monday.

After a rough start on the first four holes, Lopez did well to play the remaining 14 at seven-over thanks to a pair of birdies on fifth and 10^th holes.

Laney Glass rounded out the scores for A&M-Victoria, shooting 105.
