A&M-Victoria golf teams to host Claud Jacobs Collegiate Invitational presented by Edward Jones-French Wealth Management and Discover Victoria
The Texas A&M University-Victoria men's and women's golf teams are set to tee off in their first tournament of the spring next week.
The Jaguars host their annual Claud Jacobs Collegiate Invitational presented by Edward Jones-French Wealth Management and Discover Victoria Feb. 16-17 at Victoria Country Club. The tournament begins at 8:30 a.m. both days.
The women finished fourth last year and second two years ago.
"Our players are very eager to get going here," said head coach Alex Acosta. "There's a lot of excitement with not only the players, but the community. Overall, there's no better way to start than at home and representing Claud Jacobs."
Scouting the Women
The Jaguars are led by Kaitlin Lopez, Laney Glass and Madeline Pate.
Pate has led the Jaguars this season. The sophomore has posted three career Top 10 finishes.
This will be the last home tournament for Lopez and Glass.
Lopez, a native of San Antonio, helped A&M-Victoria to a tie for second place in 2024 at the Claud Jacobs. She's currently having a career season with an 85.5 adjusted scoring average.
The Jaguars are set to face No. 16 Texas Wesleyan, A&M-Texarkana, Wayland Baptist and Central Christian College during the two-day event.
