SAN ANTONIO – The Texas A&M University-Victoria women's soccer team once again showcased a strong defense.
The Jaguars picked up their sixth shutout of the season in a 0-0 draw at Texas A&M-San Antonio on Thursday in the first official iteration of The Battle of the Big Cats.
Junior goalkeeper Jamie Noriega made five saves against the five shots on goal she faced, upping the Dickinson native's save percentage to .818, which ranks second in the Red River Athletic Conference.
With the shutout, A&M-Victoria (7-3-5, 4-2-3)
A&M-Victoria out-shot A&M-San Antonio 11-10 with each side having five go on goal.
Ayloni Garcia led the way with four shots, including one on goal. Siobhan Scott, Rosa Reyes, Serenity Petaia, Briana Ortega, Arantza Alva and Kaitlyn McCarty also had shots for the Jaguars.
A&M-Victoria is back at home on Saturday to face Our Lady of the Lake for Senior Day. Seniors Rosa Reyes, Abree Fry and Vanessa Bevalian will be recognized at halftime for their contributions to the program.
